Enterprise Act for SMEs

Enterprise Act for SMEs

The UK’s 5.4 million businesses are set to benefit as the Enterprise Bill receives Royal Assent today (4 May 2016) and becomes the Enterprise Act.
The package of measures in the Act will help the government deliver on many of its commitments, from cutting red tape and tackling late payment to boosting the quality and quantity of apprenticeships.

Nearly two-thirds (63%) of the senior businesspeople polled in a major new British Chambers of Commerce survey have revealed that the outcome of the Prime Minister’s renegotiation is unlikely to change how they will vote - despite large majorities saying they are familiar with the objectives of the renegotiation package.

Wyckham Blackwell hosted their Autumn Clay Shoot supporting the Midlands Region TTBS. The event was held on Thursday 8th October at the Atkin, Grant & Lang Shooting Ground at Markyate, St Albans with 35 guns competing for the trophies sponsored by Crown Timber.

TRA Members encouraged by the latest housing figures

TRA Members are encouraged by the latest housing figures from the Department for Communities and Local Government which show:

  • The number of homes started in Q1 is 11% up on Q1 2013 and 41% up on Q1 2011
  • 40,340 new homes started in England in Q1
  • 34,210 homes were completed in Q1, the highest number since Q4 2008

Zero carbon exemption for small housing sites, consultation begins

The UK Green Building Council has responded to the release of the Government consultation on exempting small housing sites from part of the zero carbon homes policy.
In the consultation, Government sets out that its preferred option is to exempt sites of ten units or fewer from the Allowable Solutions element of the policy.

New TRA animation - Metal Web joist flooring systems

Spring 2014 saw the TRA publish a new metal web joist animation which illustrates the benefits of metal web joist flooring systems.  The animation can be viewed on the homepage of the TRA website at www.tra.org.uk and is well on the way to having been viewed over 1000 times on the popular video sharing website YouTube.

Trussed Rafter Association (TRA) member, Thomas Armstrong (Construction) Ltd of Cumbria, supplied trussed rafters for a sheltered housing project on behalf of housing developer, Home Group.

Trussed Rafter Association (TRA) member, DWB Boston, has supplied 200 large-span trusses for the roof of the first phase of the new Butterfly Hospice building in Boston, Lincolnshire.
