Large Extra Care Supply & Fit

Shire Timber completed their largest roof contract to date, the Design, Supply & Erection of this large Extra Care Facility in Stoke-on-Trent. The contract comprised of trussed rafters & associated items, spandrel panels, plywood sarking and flat roofs. The Design and Manufacture was undertaken in house & co-ordinated on site by Shire Timbers experienced Contracts Manager with one of their top Erection Teams, completing the installation on time and to the satisfaction of the Client. The roof structure took over 6 months to install with an order value in excess of half a million pounds. Shire Timber provided all their own crane hire for safe lifting and positioning of the roof structure. The lifting operations were carefully planned by their Appointed Person and executed on site by their Lifting Supervisor & Slinger Banksman. A TRAD safety deck system was supplied throughout by Shire Timber and erected by their team of qualified installers. This provided the joiners with a safe internal working platform and fall prevention system during erection. Due to the height of the trusses and the logistical issues involved to safely brace the ridge and erect the plywood sarking, Shire Timber used their vast experience in the Supply & Erection market to install the roof structure and produce contract specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements for the safe erection of the works.
